We recently had the opportunity to stay at The Langham Hotel in Chicago. One of several 5-star properties in the downtown area, our experience at the Langham was truly wonderful. We cannot say enough good things about this exquisitely understated luxury property in Chicago.
The Langham hotel is located a few steps from the river, in the River North area, a block away from Michigan Avenue. Located right across the louder and wildly talked-about Trump Tower Hotel, the Langham has nothing to envy to its neighbor. The decor and theme of the rooms were exquisite: a mix of mid-century modern with a touch of classic elegance that is not easily achieved in hotel properties.
While not a hotel suite, our room, the Grand River View Room, was spacious. The room is composed of a king-size bed, a desk, a sitting area, as well as a large entryway with a make up console and custom closets. The bathroom was to die for with a beautiful separate walk in shower, a large soaking tub (definitely big enough for two), a double sink and a separate toilet.
The lighting arrangement and electronic set up (50″ inch TV, Bose speakers throughout the room with Bluetooth) were especially welcome during our stay. Everything at The Langham has been thought out perfectly and would fit any guest looking for a romantic getaway in Chicago. And this was in line with the discreet and perfect service we experienced from the front door and throughout the stay.
While the hotel room itself was wonderful, we also got to experience the pool and hot tub, but also the bath and saunas available free of charge to overnight guests. With 5 types of saunas set up in spa areas, the hotel offers a truly unique bath experience: a very hot and dry sauna lined with Himalayan pink salt stones, a wet steam sauna, an herbal sauna, an aromatherapy shower and a relaxation room with warm stone relaxer to relax your body. And of course, if you’re looking for a special spa treatment, the hotel offers a wonderful spa.
This luxury hotel also boasts a restaurant, a bar and a pavilion where guests can enjoy The Langham’s famous afternoon tea with Wedgewood. Breakfast is served in-room or at the outstanding restaurant, Travelle.
But with the great location near Michigan Avenue, you can also decide to try out the Shaw’s Crab House highly-rated Sunday brunch right around the corner from the hotel — or walk a couple blocks and enjoy the fabulous shopping and eating experience at Eataly. All in all, the Langham made a perfect base for a luxury stay in Chicago.
